MHT Service Hours Are Easy to Complete!

Below is a description of events that occur throughout our school year. If you’re interested,
please check the box next to the event you think you would be interested in. Remember – just
because you sign up doesn’t mean you are committing to the event. It just means that you’ll
receive a call when the event is approaching and if you’re still interested and have the time, you
can help.

Family Fun Day: This is our first major even of the school year. This event held on a Saturday and will include BBQ, games and lots of family fun.

Golf Tournament: This annual event is held in the spring. This year our Celebrity Gold Tournament will be on March 15, 2010 at the San Jose Country Club.

Field Trips: These occur during the school day throughout the year and are determined by
your child’s teacher and the school administration. Chaperones are always needed and
sometimes we need drivers, too.

Sporting Events: These events occur throughout the year in the evenings and on weekends.
We have Saturday night football games in October and need help with set up, booth sales,
field marker, clean up, etc. We also have Volleyball and Basketball tournaments in October
and December and need help with set up, supervision, managing door, clean up, etc.

School Beautification:
Our campus would not look as beautiful as it does without the time
and energy our parents have put into it cleaning and landscaping. You don’t have to have a
green thumb in order to come out and help plant some flowers and to help keep our campus
beautiful. These events occur throughout the year and will be announced in the weekly
school newsletter and sometimes with separate fliers in the Tuesday envelope.

Service to Community: The school and the parish will determine what the needs are in our
community and will schedule events to help our community. Please monitor your child’s
Tuesday folder to see what these events are and when they will occur.

Monthly Parent Meetings: Each month, our school has a parent meeting in the evening to
inform us of how our school is progressing and to get our input as to how we can make it an
even better school. You get service hour credit for attending this meeting. Keep an eye on the
newsletter to see when our meetings are.

Open House: This event kicks off Catholic Schools week (last week of January/first week of
February) and is our big student recruiting event. It will be on a Sunday. Although a majority
of the event is done by our students, we always need adults to assist.

Book Fair: This event begins on Open House, runs through Catholic Schools Week and ends
on the Friday of Catholic Schools Week. The Book Fair is a fundraiser and the proceeds will support our school library, classroom libraries and daycare. We need help setting up, running the fair before, during and after school and breaking down. Set up occurs on a Saturday, we sell books during Open House
and the rest occurs during the school day.

Grandparent’s Day: This event occurs during the middle of Catholic Schools Week and is
during the school day. The students provide a beautiful church service for the
Grandparents/Special People and afterwards, we host a reception. We need help setting up,
serving and cleaning up. Donations of cookies and flowers are also always needed.

Crab Feast: This event occurs the evening on February 27th and requires LOTS of planning
and help. We need to sell tickets, make auction baskets, set up, serve, clean up, etc. Please
monitor the newsletter and your child’s Tuesday envelope for committee meetings.

Jog-A-Thon: This is a fundraising event that will be held in the Spring, during the school
day. Students obtain sponsors (either per lap or flat fee) then jog the laps during the school
day. This is a day of fun exercise with music, food and beverage while raising money for our
school. This is our second year doing this event. We need assistance with setting up,
counting laps and cleaning up.

Art Show/Spaghetti Dinner: This is an evening event that occurs in May. Mrs. Boettner
needs help during the school day preparing the students’ work for display at the Art Show.
We also need help selling tickets, setting up, serving and cleaning up the Spaghetti Dinner
that occurs prior to the Art Show.

Sports Day: This event occurs in either May or June of each year and is a day our students
spend the school enjoying sporting events such as the limbo, sponge relay race, and jump
rope. Our student council and Mr. K run the event and parent volunteers are needed to set
up, supervise each of the events and break down.

Festival: This is joint venture between the school and the parish and is a major fundraiser for
both the school and the parish that will be held over a weekend in June this year. Please
monitor your child’s Tuesday folder to see what help is needed.
